Abstract

QUECHA REYNA, Citlali. Feminine Migration and Incidences in Upbringing: the Case of an Afro-descendent Population in Mexico. Alteridades [online]. 2015, vol.25, n.49, pp.93-108. ISSN 2448-850X.

This article describes the process of feminine migration in an Afro-descendent community in Costa Chica, Oaxaca, Corralero, belonging to the municipality of Pinotepa Nacional. In particular, the case of women who are mothers and who do not travel with their children, leaving them with grandparents or other relatives. The different scenes that feminine migration supposes are analyzed, by showing the voices of the social actors involved, particularly those from boys and girls inasmuch as they have an agency capacity and constitute the central subjects of the raising process.
