Abstract

KROTZ, Esteban. La fundamentación de la idea de los derechos humanos en contextos multiculturales. Alteridades [online]. 2008, vol.18, n.35, pp.9-20. ISSN 2448-850X.

The foundation of human rights idea within multicultural contexts. The theoretical and empirical foundation of human rights still a task in process. Unlike the situation half century ago, this cognitive problem should be currently approached within multicultural contexts in which often the reference to cultural specificity is used as an argument to deny the universality of the idea concerning fundamental human rights. The starting point of this work is anthropology, specialized science in the study of cultural diversity as well as of the relationship among cultures. After pointing out the limits of some perspectives in regards to the expansion of the fundamental human rights validity, this work explores the Wittgensteinian proposal concerning family resemblances in order to lay the foundations towards intercultural dialogues about human rights, which allow to intensify its promotion and at the same time deepen its understanding.

Keywords : human rights legitimation; multiculturality; inter-cultural dialogue; family resemblances.
