Abstract

INOUE, Daisuke. A new japanese religion movement in Mexico: the Soka Gakkai. Alteridades [online]. 2006, vol.16, n.32, pp.43-56. ISSN 2448-850X.

Which is the Mexican people’s process of conversion into a new religious movement that comes from a foreign cultural origin? The motivations of the conversion process, which are divided in different phases, are examined in detail by finding out their transformations in order to understand the level of “interiorization” of the new religious message. In like manner, this article studies some Mexican peculiarities that arise from the interpretations of the values proposed by the organization, which characterizes the identity of the same movement in Mexico.

Keywords : religious conversion; new religious movements; transformation of motivation; linguistic expression.
