Beyond the functionalistic identification of culture with the adaptative and technical efficacy of early hominids, this article puts forward the notion that the evolutive origins of culturality implies to think of the arising of phenomenic singularity of social life and the identity as universe of symbolic efficacy and self referentiality, expressions that, in human evolution, only seem linkable entail with anatomically modern humans of the Upper Paleolithic.
