Abstract

SVENSSON, Manfred. A Case of Augustunian Anti-Aristotelianism: Luther and the Reception of Aristotle in the Protestant Reformation. Tópicos (México) [online]. 2016, n.50, pp.41-59. ISSN 0188-6649.

Considering the various critiques against Aristotle that one can find in early modern thought, the article asks to what extent any specifically Protestant critique is discernible. Luther's complaints are explained as a specific Reformation variation of some critiques against Aristotle typical of late-medieval Agustinianism. Finally, the influence of this position on Melanchthon is considered.

Keywords : Aristotle; Luther; Melanchthon; Late-medieval Agustinianism.
