Abstract
JIMENEZ MORENO, Marcos Andrés; HERNANDEZ BARAJAS, José Roberto; JIMENEZ HERNANDEZ, José del Carmen and PLAZAS QUIROGA, Juan Gabriel. Academic oil well control software MAROGA. Acta univ [online]. 2022, vol.32, e3407. Epub Oct 24, 2022. ISSN 2007-9621. https://doi.org/10.15174/au.2022.3407.
The unsuccessful attempt to control an offshoot or inadequate management of oil well control situations may bring serious economic costs, such as the total loss of the well. However, the possibility of analyzing, selecting, and applying the correct actions and activities provides the opportunity to control its manifestation, resulting in the reduction or elimination of the severity of the blowout. This article describes the development of a graphical and numerical computational tool, designed to study and understand the methodologies in the control of oil wells of Petróleos Mexicanos-International Association of Drilling Contractors (Pemex-IADC). This application was developed with Visual Basic Macros in the Microsoft environment. It has been validated through an exhaustive investigation for the design of its configuration and has been tested employing the execution of numerical exercises and comparing it with examples of the WellCap manuals of Pemex and diverse affiliated companies.
