Abstract

AHUMADA-CERVANTES, Ramiro; VELAZQUEZ-ANGULO, Gilberto  and  AHUMADA-CERVANTES, Brenda. Adaptation of the agricultural sector to climate change: proposal for measures at a fine spatial scale in Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico. Acta univ [online]. 2018, vol.28, n.1, pp.46-56. ISSN 2007-9621.  https://doi.org/10.15174/au.2018.1351.

Climate change (CC) currently experienced by the planet is a reality. Agriculture, an important activity for income generation and for food production, could be one of the primary activities most affected by this phenomenon. In this regard, the adaptation of this sector becomes a key tool to reduce its vulnerability to CC. In this way, knowing the agricultural vulnerability of the municipality of Guasave, Sinaloa to CC, 11 measures for adaptation at the level of rural basic geostatistical area (rural BGA) are proposed. In addition to this, based on the analysis of certain government plans and programs, including objectives and lines of action aimed at improving the quality of life of the Mexican population, some government supports that could be useful for the implementation of the proposed adaptation measures were identified.

Keywords : Agriculture; basic geostatistical area; governmental plans and programs; population; vulnerability.
