Abstract
VALDES-MANZANILLA, Arturo; FERNANDEZ-GARCIA, Germán; RAMOS-HERRERA, Sergio and BAUTISTA-MARGULIS, Raúl G. Simulation of the spatial distribution of SO2 emitted by large fixed sources during 2003 at northwestern Chiapas and central Tabasco, Mexico. Rev. Int. Contam. Ambient [online]. 2008, vol.24, n.2, pp.71-77. ISSN 0188-4999.
The CALPUFF dispersion model was used to simulate the spatial distribution of the SO2 emitted by Petróleos Mexicanos' (PEMEX) gas-processing complexes in Cactus, NW Chiapas, Nuevo PEMEX and Ciudad PEMEX, in central Tabasco, during 2003. It was found that the zone with the highest concentrations of SO2 is located SW from the PEMEX facilities. The zone, where the World Health Organization's norm for SO2 is surpassed (20 µg/m3), includes the city of Reforma, Chiapas and Ciudad PEMEX, Tabasco.
