Abstract

BOCCO, Gerardo  and  PALACIO PRIETO, José Luis. The contribution of geomorphological research to environmental issues in Mexico. Invest. Geog [online]. 2014, n.83, pp.06-27. ISSN 2448-7279.  https://doi.org/10.14350/rig.34421.

The paper analyzes the development of Mexican geomorphology and specially its contribution to environmental issues. To this end, a thorough literature review was carried out; papers were differentiated according to the type of journal (Mexican and international). Special emphasis was placed on analyzing whether the interest on environment was derived from a well defined theoretical framework, in particular in terms of the insertion of geomorphology in the geographic arena in Mexico. The review has focused on secientific papers duly refereed and available at the Internet. Thus other research was not included. However, that the database described in this paper represents a solid sample of the entire universe of the efforts of Mexican geomorphologists.

Keywords : Geomorphology; Mexico; environment; environmental sciences.
