Abstract

RODRIGUEZ CHAVES, Alonso. Crossroads of deficits and inequalities: Central, disintegrated history of a region. Estud. soc [online]. 2015, vol.23, n.45, pp.9-32. ISSN 0188-4557.

The article discusses the issue of regional disintegration as a historical constant in Central America. The paper exposes the shortcomings, problems, and contradictions that have hindered the development and deepening of the integration process in the isthmus. In particular, raises deficits, gaps, asymmetries and other expressions of inequality as factors that have contributed to undermining stability, political, economic and social unit of the Central American region. Included among various contributions, the challenges that must be assumed as an integrated bloc countries to reduce and alleviate the asymmetries in these region.
