Abstract

MAURO, Sebastián. Thematisation of corruption as cleavage of Argentine politics in the 1990s. Estud. soc [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.40, pp.69-95. ISSN 0188-4557.

This article analyses the thematisa-tion of corruption, as a social problem during the 1990s, based on the assumption that disputes over its meaning were part of the main political cleavages of the above period in Argentina. In this sense, the article analyses the emergence of political and social actors who proposed this issue, as well as the ideological positions, discourses and languages they created to deal with it. The paper addresses both the conditions of emergence of those discourses (for example, the treatment of impunity as a frame of reference of the new social movements during the democratic transition), and their sedimentations in the subsequent political scenes, opening the way to the emergence of new actors and new speeches (in particular, framed in the distinction between "old" and "new" politics)

Keywords : political representation; corruption; political communication.
