Abstract

PERALTA, Ernesto. Evolution and perspective of (un)employement in Sonora. Estud. soc [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.39, pp.263-286. ISSN 0188-4557.

This article reviews and updates the evolution, current status and perspective of (un)employment in Sonora. It compares its recent evolution respect to previous forecasts and presents a prospective panorama to the year 2010, taking into account that those looking for a job within this time horizon stay alive now; so this work presents a framework to implement policies to diminish unemployment. The hypothesis is that, although not sufficient, it is necessary to accelerate the pace of growth and change the economic structure in favor of labor intensive sectors. There are five sections; the first compares the recent evolution respect to its perspective traced years ago; the second presents the theoretical framework; the third estimates future supply and demand for labor; the fourth classifies and estimates types of unemployment as well as the required investment rates; the fifth is for conclusions and recommendations.

Keywords : (un)employment; hypothesis; perspective; investment; economic growth.
