Abstract

RIECHMAN, Jorge. Eros antes que Prometeo. Reconsideración de la filosofía de la tecnología de Ortega: Una relectura de su Meditación a la Técnica desde el principio de la biomímesis. Estud. soc [online]. 2009, vol.17, n.34, pp.251-275. ISSN 0188-4557.

The philosophy of technology has one of its seminal texts in Meditación de la técnica, some lectures José Ortega y Gasset gave in 1933. I suggest that re-reading this work could facilitate us a better perspective to evaluate the civilization crossroads where we stand today. We could say -imitating the World Social Forum's motto--: many techniques are possible, and other techniques are possible, but shall we go the way of a biomimicry technology which could learn from nature, or shall we follow the dubious paths which synthetic technoscience suggests? Eros should have command, and not the thanatic drive which lives in technoscience.

Keywords : philosophy of the science; technoscience; technosphere; progress; biomimesis; nanotechnology; nanomaterials; sustainability culture; selflimitation.
