Abstract

PAYAN, Irvin. A Gnostic Reading of Muerte sin fin. Lit. mex [online]. 2019, vol.30, n.1, pp.11-42. ISSN 2448-8216.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.litmex.30.1.2019.1157.

Among the many interpretations of José Gorostiza’s long poem Muerte sin fin, I propose a new reading that establishes a parallel between the gnostic texts of Nag Hammadi and Muerte sin fin. The esoteric nature of Gnosticism is important in the context within which the poem was written, for this reason I analyse the connexion of the poet José Gorostiza with esoteric sources that he perhaps knew or which influenced him.

Keywords : Poetry; Muerte sin fin; Gorostiza; Contemporáneos group; Gnosticism; Theosophy; Esoterism.
