Abstract

MAHOP MA MAHOP, Romuald-Achile. Aiôn and Kairós as reinvention of the chrónos prôtogonos in the poetry of Octavio Paz. Lit. mex [online]. 2011, vol.22, n.1, pp.189-206. ISSN 2448-8216.

The complexity of the concept of time in Ancient Greece is visible in the subtle distinction of the terms aiôn, kairs and chrónos. The evolution of history and philosophical speculation have led to a simplification in the understanding of time in the Western world. The article explores Octavio Paz's attempt to restore in his poetry the complexity of the notion of time, through a poetics of the instant and a revindication of inspiration as poetic kairós.

Keywords : Octavio Paz; Mexican Poetry; time; epiphany; inspiration.
