Resumen

The essay identifies the inclusion of subjectivity, belonging to autobiographical discourse, as a typical literary trait in the chronicles of the Indies. From here, the sentiment of nostalgia is analyzed as an element for interpreting the past on the part of the chroniclers Bernal Díaz del Castillo and the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. We establish differences between the perspectives of both writers, based in their divergent biographical circumstances, to identify in continuation resources coincident with both chroniclers as the creation of fictitious interlocutors, the consciousness of mission to become spokespersons for a social elite affected by the arrival of newcomers, the projection of the past of a utopic vision or the presence of visual and "pictoric" elements in the evocation of the past.
