Abstract

GALLEGO RAMOS, José Raúl. Social change and agenda-setting research: Critical analysis and some ideas to study the Cuban case. Comun. soc [online]. 2016, n.25, pp.183-207. ISSN 0188-252X.

The article assesses the limitations of the Agenda-Setting Theory regarding the inclusion of social changes into this kind of study, and suggests how to improve it considering three proposals aimed at modifying the ontological, epistemic, and axiological aspects of the Agenda Setting Theory, and purging it from the usual instrumentalism and fragmentation in most of this type of research. Having the Cuban case as example, this paper brings some ideas that might contribute to an increase of the complexity of the agendas relationships analysis that take care of social change process.
