Abstract

FRANKENBERG, Lorena. Interactivity and deliberative democracy in the Mexican digital journalism. Comun. soc [online]. 2015, n.23, pp.97-123. ISSN 0188-252X.

The article discusses the role of the Mexican online journalism in fostering a virtual public sphere according to the ideals of deliberative democracy. The paper discusses a qualitative analysis of three of the most important digital news sites and a quantitative analysis to 1 390 comments to their national news ítems. These platforms offer limited spaces for participation and the discussions are scarce and lack of solid arguments, tolerance and congruency.
