The importance of the television as an agent in shaping popular culture is indisputable. This article intends to study how the audio-visual mass media understand history through several elements: the traditions of the cinema, the adaptation of fictional narratives to the dominant discourses or the historiographic category of the "popular television", which inform us about the public and private uses of the small screen.
