Abstract

CORDERO GARCIA, Grecia. Populism and neoliberalism as ideological left and right in the Twenty-First Century. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2023, vol.85, n.spe2, pp.141-168.  Epub Sep 30, 2023. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2023.2ne.60986.

This article analyzes the apologetic and pejorative uses of the term populism. It argues that there is no such thing as right-wing populism. The text also argues that this era is one of radicalized anti-politics ideologies. Just as Marxist and fascist revolutions characterized the political history of the Twentieth Century, populism and neoliberalism have become the leading ideologies of Twenty-First Century globalization.

Keywords : political ideologies; populism; neoliberalism; anti-politics; globalization.
