Abstract

LLANES SALAZAR, Rodrigo Alejandro  and  GARCIA MORENO, Sara María. Mobilization and counter-mobilization for same-sex marriage in Yucatan. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2023, vol.85, n.3, pp.723-753.  Epub Sep 07, 2023. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2023.3.60778.

This paper analyzes the processes of mobilization and counter-mobilization for same-sex marriage in Yucatan. It argues that the causal patterns for the recognition of same-sex marriage in the entity are the presence of an LGBT movement that has taken legal action; the direct incidence of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, and the establishment of a frame bridging that links same-sex marriage with freedom of expression. The political and legal strategies carried out by the actors of the mobilization and countermobilization are described and analyzed.

Keywords : human rights; same-sex marriage; mobilization; counter-mobilization; LGBT.
