In-depth interviews were conducted with 16 women studying for their Bachelor of Law degree in the Actopan College of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo, Mexico. The aim was to analyze the first work experiences of young university students in the Mezquital Valley, observing the modalities of labor segregation that shape their economic autonomy. The research found that economic family care is a structural axis in the labor segregation of participants. Initial integration into the labor market is characterized by conditions that weaken the development and exercise of their autonomy and economic rights.
