Abstract
MARTINEZ CARMONA, Carlos Arturo. QCA and Latin American moral policies: application to the Mexican case. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2021, vol.83, n.3, pp.671-707. Epub Sep 13, 2021. ISSN 2594-0651. https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2021.3.60136.
The methodological approaches used to explain the change in policies such as abortion and marriage in Latin America are limited. This article proposes the methodological and practical utility of comparative qualitative analysis (QCA) in this regard. Through an analytical and critical review of the methodological strategies normally applied to these subjects, the article highlights that when confronting their diversity and contextual complexity, those strategies have a limited explanatory scope. The use of qca to analyze mexican abortion and marriage policies illustrates how, through conjunctural multicausality, this method contributes to explaining change in moral policies in the region.
