Abstract

GIRALDO GARCIA, Fernando  and  SOTO CABALLERO, Héctor Renán. Districts of Peace: The peace in electoral apathy. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2019, vol.81, n.2, pp.301-336. ISSN 2594-0651.

Not since the Colombian Political Constitution of 1991 have the words “peace” and “democracy” been so closely linked and unlike previous peace agreements, the relation between “victims” and “democracy” was not included in the electoral dispute as it is today through the Special Temporary Peace Districts (CTEP). However, in these CTEP, not all municipalities show widespread support for peace. This suggests that the category of “victims” is not necessarily synonymous with support for peace, posing challenges for understanding peace and democracy in the post-conflict era.

Keywords : Special Temporary Peace Districts; legislative elections; electoral abstentionism; politic transition; victims; Colombia.
