Abstract
ZAREMBERG, Gisela and GUZMAN LUCERO, Álvaro Fernando. Abortion, movements and femocracies: A relational analysis. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2019, vol.81, n.1, pp.145-177. ISSN 2594-0651.
This article analyzes the role of feminists who interact with the Mexican state (femocrats) in favor of women’s right to free choice over their bodies, as opposed to actions in favor of the right to life from conception. From a relational theoretical perspective, it will argue that, contrary to what much of the literature on social movements assumes, autonomy does not imply the annulment of a relationship. On the contrary, the comparison between the cases of Aguascalientes and Querétaro shows that women with multiple trajectories between state and movement are a key factor in curbing conservative advances.
