Abstract

MARIN CORTES, Andrés Felipe  and  QUINTERO JURADO, Jessica Marcela. Confidence in the peace process in Colombia on Twitter. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2018, vol.80, n.1, pp.115-137. ISSN 2594-0651.

This article presents the results of research on the expressions of confidence in the Twitter social network regarding the peace process between the Colombian Government and the FARC-EP. A qualitative content analysis was conducted of 642 tweets published between September 5, 2015 and March 30, 2016. Two categories were discussed: 1) The peace agreement and 2) Peace. The findings show that respondents feel that the peace agreement is not enough, that achieving real peace depends on citizen attitudes, yet they are unable to conceive of the institutional mechanisms for building it.

Keywords : confidence; peace; Colombia; social media.
