Abstract

The paper goes about the origin of public policy as an area of study within the social sciences. It performs a study on the analytical nature of the social sciences, policy sciences and public policies regarding the problems of society, with regard to their degree of specialization and their differences in methodology and research goals. It also analyzes the development of the study of public policy in Latin America.
