Abstract
MARTINEZ GARCIA, Luz Elena; ZAPATA MARTELO, Emma; ALBERTI MANZANARES, Pilar and DIAZ CERVANTES, Rufino. Gender and power in three rural organizations in the lagunera region. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2005, vol.67, n.2, pp.271-319. ISSN 2594-0651.
This article centers on the recognition and analysis of power relations in the everyday action of rural organizations in the Lagunera Region. The authors use the traditional gender model (TGM) and the mixed gender model (MGM) as an analytical proposal for observing the changes in gender identities and power relations between male and female members of the organizations studied. Globalization alters the identities of women and men, with women displaying a degree of empowerment, and men showing modifications in what is known as hegemonic masculinity.
Keywords : Gender; hegemonic masculinity; power strategies.
