Abstract

LUNA, Matilde  and  VELASCO, José Luis. Trust and performance in social networks. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2005, vol.67, n.1, pp.127-162. ISSN 2594-0651.

The article proposes an operative definition of interpersonal trust, based on the distinction between three types or aspects of trust: strategic, normative and prestige-based. Within the context of complex social interactions, these dimensions may complement or hinder each other. This operative definition arises from an analysis of the literature on the issue and data yielded by a study of knowledge networks. Although they are not statistically representative, these data enable one to put forward a number of hypotheses and to formulate a set of proposals on the measurement and evaluation of trust.

Keywords : trust; assessment; evaluation; networks.
