Abstract

HEREDIA, Mariana. Structural Reforms and Renewal of Economic Elites in Argentine: Studies on the Spokesmen for Land and Capital. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2003, vol.65, n.1, pp.77-115. ISSN 2594-0651.

This article seeks to contribute to knowledge of the Latin American economic elites on the basis of the study of two business corporations: the Sociedad Rural Argentina (SRA) and the Asociación de Bancos de la Argentina (Adeba-ABA), organizations that represent the most concentrated owners' sectors in their respective fields of activity. They constitute the most perseverant spokesmen of liberal orthodoxy and have been the principal supporters of the government that implemented the market reforms. The text begins with the history of both organizations, focuses on their development during the 1990s and ends with an analysis of the renewal of Argentina's economic elites.

Keywords : economic elites; structural reforms; neocorporatism; liberalism; land-owner oligarchy; financial sector.
