Chemistry is the science that guides and contributes to show the mechanisms and phenomena that occur in matter. However, it is common to report on the difficulty that students have in understanding their concepts and applying them in daily practice. The article aims to present an overview of the students' learning, difficulty and perspective in Chemistry. The methodology was descriptive, exploratory and quantitative approach, with the application of a questionnaire with 21 semi-structured questions. The subjects were students of the 3rd year of high school at three public schools located in Amazon countryside, in Coari city. The student s majority like to study Chemistry, they know of its applicability, but they feel difficulties, mainly in the contents that involve mathematic. Only 20% consider themselves able to take the university exam and Chemistry and Mathematics are the subjects they feel most insecure. The analysis of chemistry learning with high school students contributed to show an overview about the teaching of chemistry in the region. It was possible to highlight the need for pedagogical practices that enable teaching that arouses students' motivation and interest.
