Abstract

CHAMIZO, José Antonio. Chemical substances, before and after the construction of the periodic table. Educ. quím [online]. 2019, vol.30, n.4, pp.98-107.  Epub Nov 25, 2019. ISSN 0187-893X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fq.18708404e.2019.4.70469.

For its teaching, General Chemistry can be interpreted through five chemical revolutions (Chamizo, 2018) in which the incorporation of instruments and the appearance of new subdisciplines are very relevant. From the first three, which mark the birth and consolidation of chemistry itself, organic chemistry and physicochemistry (Chamizo, 2014) it is discussed how the concept of substance and element was built, particularly in relation to the Periodic Table.

Keywords : Chemical revolutions; periodic table; chemical practices; substance; element.
