Abstract

BELLO BENAVIDES, Laura Odila. Environmental education and climate change in the tecnological high school. Educ. quím [online]. 2019, vol.30, n.3, pp.3-14.  Epub Nov 30, 2019. ISSN 0187-893X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fq.18708404e.2019.3.67965.

The incorporation of environmental education (EE) in the National Educational System in Mexico has been a discontinuous and hilly process. Specifically in the Upper Middle Level, its presence is noticed in a secondary way, from a conservationist approach. Environmental issues of vital importance such as climate change are addressed in small spaces and based on technocentric visions. The need for a central presence is clear from pedagogical proposals such as the eco-citizenship that articulates knowledge, attitudes and relevant actions of mitigation and adaptation to climate change with the educational process oriented to the learning of sciences, especially experimental ones. In this article I expose an experience of environmental education in the course of Chemistry II that recovers this approach and the work for projects, as a didactic route, to address climate change from the teaching of Chemistry in a technological high school. The results reveal the relevance of incorporating these work perspectives; Likewise, educational, pedagogical and didactic challenges are identified and discussed in these school work proposals for their approach.

Keywords : climate change; technological high school; environmental education; eco-citizenship.
