Abstract

This paper aims to present an inorganic medicinal chemistry perspective based on vanadium, platinum and gold, their applications as therapeutic agents for the treatment of various diseases and the relevance of their coordination chemistry. Vanadium compounds as substitute for insulin to treat type II diabetes, cis-platinum coordination compounds that are currently used as therapeutic agents for different types of cancer and gold compounds that have been effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, are discussed.
