Abstract

BAEZ, José E.. How to obtain a degradable polymer in the laboratory: Synthesis of poly(D,L-lactide) and characterization by 1H NMR. Educ. quím [online]. 2010, vol.21, n.2, pp.170-177. ISSN 0187-893X.

An aliphatic polyester with degradable characteristics as poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA) was synthesized by ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of the D,L-lactide using tin (II) 2-ethylhexanoate as initiator and primary alcohols as coinitiators. PDLLA was characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR). The concepts and synthesis that are shown here are a contribution for courses of organic chemistry and polymers.

Keywords : Ring-opening polymerization; poly(D,L-lactide); polyester.
