Solanum cardiophyllum and S. ehrenbergii are wild potato species, commonly found in Western, Central and Southern Mexico. In the Altiplano Potosino-Zactecano tubers are sold in local markets for human consumption. We found a farm in the town of San Ignacio, municipality of Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco, México where, the farmers grow three wild potato species (S. cardiophyllum, S. ehrenbergii and S. stoloniferum) under irrigated conditions. In México this is the first report on the cultivation of wild potato species. This site wight be useful for the maintenance of this genetic resources.
