Abstract

ALVAREZ AYUSO, Inmaculada C.; BECERRIL-TORRES, Osvaldo U.  and  MORAL-BARRERA, Laura E. del. Interstate and Transborder Spillover Effects in the Road Network: A Case Study for México. Frontera norte [online]. 2011, vol.23, n.46, pp.61-90. ISSN 2594-0260.

The purpose of this research is to identify the existence of the spillover effects of the US domestic and cross-border road infrastructure on production in México, through the implementation of a stochastic frontier model. To this end, we have developed spatial indicators that record these effects and identify the influence of the states contiguous to each of them. The results show that both national and cross-border roads have a favorable effect on production, reducing government inefficiency and creating spillover effects between adjacent states.

Keywords : Public capital; infrastructure; stochastic frontier; efficiency; spillover.
