This article discusses the work experiences of Purépecha women in Tijuana. It puts emphasis on the maquiladora women's work to understand its given meaning in a context of flexible forms of industrial work that leads to changes in perceptions of the work itself. It also mentions the ambiguity of the maquiladora inclusion as a positive part in the meaning of work and the continuity of social inequality originated in gender, ethnic and migratory issues.
