In this article, I discuss some theoretical guidelines for recognizing as a binational heritage corridor the old San Diego-Arizona railroad in the United States, of which the Tijuana-Tecate line in Mexico forms a part. In order to appreciate the value of the corridor and incorporate it into border regional development, I also analyze a methodological approach taken from the fields of cultural geography and historic preservation.
