CALDERON VILLARREAL, Cuauhtémoc and MENDOZA COTA, Jorge Eduardo. Demanda regional de trabajo de la industria maquiladora de exportación en los estados de la frontera norte. Frontera norte [online]. 2000, vol.12, n.24, pp.59-83. ISSN 2594-0260.
The present study has the purpose of developing an econometric model that allows to evaluate and compare factors that have influence in job demand of the maquiladora export industry (MEI), of Mexico's northern border states. A job demand function is build which considers explanation variables: remuneration, industrial activity in the United States as "proxi" for income and mass economy derived from industrial specialization and industrial concentration. The results of the study show that salary level, the average size of the maquiladora plants and specialization production of the EMI determine low demand of the EMI, in Mexico's northern border states.
