Humanity faces a polymorphous but unitary emergency. A Great Depression whose successive, parallel or intertwined manifestations make an historical period of intense turbulence. A debacle whose many facets have the same origin and feedback on themselves. A global bottleneck that produces headless puppets but picks on the poor.
