Abstract

VALDIVIA ALCALA, Ramón; LOPEZ SANTIAGO, Marco Andrés; ROMO LOZANO, José Luis  and  SANDOVAL VILLA, Manuel. Optimal control applied to the economy of mineral resources. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.3, pp.265-272. ISSN 2395-8030.

This study shows the results about the determination of the optimal path to mineral extraction. The path for optimal extraction, an optimal control in discrete time method was used. By using this method we concluded that the optimal extraction path depends primarily upon the interest rate, the available amounts of stored mineral, and the period of exploitation. The variable that more affects to the extraction optimal path is the interest rate, thus impacting directly the quantities annually extracted.

Keywords : optimal extraction path; optimal control; interest rate.
