Abstract

GONZALEZ-OLHOVICH, Irene  and  LOZANO ELIZONDO, David. Neuro ophtalmological alterations in mitocondrial diseases. Arch. Neurocien. (Mex., D.F.) [online]. 2005, vol.10, n.2, pp.74-82. ISSN 1028-5938.

Mitocondrial diseases produce a series of neuro-ophthalmological diseases. The must comon, optic atrophy, oftalmoplegia, pigmentary retinopaty and retroquiamatic alterations. Twenty three patients with mitocondrial disease diagnosed by muscle biopsy were studied, 69.6% had decrease of visual acuity. No tratment is available at the moment but the diagnosis is basic for prognosis and avoid unnecessary treatments
