Abstract
ALVARADO-CASTILLO, Gerardo et al. Sclerotia formation in Morchella esculenta and M. conica in vitro. Rev. Mex. Mic [online]. 2012, vol.35, pp.35-41. ISSN 0187-3180.
The strains IE-750 (M. esculenta) and IE-816 (M. conica) were used and cultivated in a culture media supplemented with compost. Seven stages were identified during sclerotia formation process: 1. Hyphal growth, 2. Primary mycelia growth and branching, 3. Secondary mycelia interweaving, 4. Formation of compact masses, 5. Growth of compact masses, 6. Sclerotia formation, and 7. Sclerotia growth and maturation. Chlamydospores and conidia were also observed during sclerotia formation process, suggesting Morchella displays diverse reproduction and survival strategies under different environmental conditions.
Keywords : morel; chlamydospores; conidia; mycelium; strategies.
