Abstract

VALENCIA DEL TORO, Gustavo; GARIN AGUILAR, María Eugenia; TELLEZ JAIMES, Miguel Ángel  and  DURAN PARAMO, Enrique. Antibacterial activity of Pleurotus djamor hexanic extracts. Rev. Mex. Mic [online]. 2008, vol.28, n.spe, pp.119-123. ISSN 0187-3180.

Antibacterial activity of hexanic extracts from four Pleurotus djamor (white pink varieties) strains was evaluated against bacterial strains of Bacillus subtilis Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter agglomerans, Shigella dysenteriae, Yersinia enterocolitica, Klebsiella rhinoescleromatis, and K. pneumoniae. The antibacterial activity was determined by the disk diffusion method of Kirby Bauer, with 1.5 x 108 CFU / mL of bacterial concentration. After 16 to 18 h of incubation, white variety strains (IE200 and IE201) presented higher antibacterial activities than pink variety basidiomes (ECS127R and RP), developed inhibition halos with diameters from 12 ±0.5 to 25.6±1.2 mm and 8.3 ±0.3 to 22.6±1.4 mm, respectively.

Keywords : Bacterial sensibility; mushrooms; antimicrobial activity.
