Abstract

The actual knowledge of toxic macromycetes from Sonora, Mexico is scarce. Fourteen agaric species were studied, which produce different type of mycetism: a) Phalloid mycetism: Amanita bisporigera and A. virosa. b) Coprinus mycetism: Coprinopsis atramentaria. c) Muscarinic mycetism: Amanita muscaria var. muscaria and A. muscaria subsp. flavivolvata. d) Pantherina mycetism: Amanita pantherina and Inocybe erubescens. e) Gastrointestinal mycetism: Amanita gemmata, Agaricus xanthoderma, Chlorophyllum molybdites, Omphalotus olearius, Cortinarius cinnabarinus and C. semisanguineus. It is mentioned the different vegetation types where the studied species are growing. There is not any record of mycetism in Sonora.
