Abstract

DAMMERT GUARDIA, Manuel. Three Roads to Revitalizing the Study of Social Inequalities: Symbolic Borders, Urban Space, and Social Networks. A Review of the Literature. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2018, vol.33, n.95, pp.125-158. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article’s objective is to present a general panorama of the three fields that will make it possible to revamp studies on social class and inequality in contemporary sociology: symbolic borders, urban space, and social networks. The article situates itself in a relational, social class perspective for studying inequalities. In addition, the author puts forth the idea that it is based on debates about classification and differentiation systems that these three thematic areas will make it possible to recover the centrality of the category of social class.

Keywords : social class; social networks; differentiation processes; classification systems; symbolic borders.
