Getting a graduate degree abroad is considered one of the best strategies for consolidating professionals and researchers’ international profile. This article deals with academic mobility, one of the activities most closely identified with internationalization in the training of top-level government officials, the political elite, as a recruitment factor. The author looks at the motivations for studying abroad, fields of knowledge and the countries where they study, as well as the patterns in their careers. She also describes the reasons why they decide to remain abroad to live or to return to their country of origin.
