Abstract

La pirekua -canto tradicional p'urhépecha- fue declarada Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO, por sus siglas en inglés). La declaratoria fue recibida con entusiasmo por el gobierno de Michoacán, instituciones y músicos p'urhépecha. Sin embargo, también generó un conflicto donde intervinieron los pirériecha (cantantes de pirekua) y los músicos p'urhépecha, principalmente de las comunidades rurales. El artículo indaga cómo fue interpretada la declaratoria de la UNESCO por los pirériecha y músicos p'urhépecha, y cuáles fueron las fuentes de agravio para que se organizaran y manifestaran su inconformidad. El conflicto se analiza utilizando la teoría del campo de Pierre Bourdieu.
