Abstract

This article undertakes a critical review of Theodor W. Adorno's sociology of music by focusing on different biographical factors, personal judgments, and aesthetic premises. The aim is to distinguish which of his analyses and speculations can make a fruitful contribution to the sub-discipline, especially when the idea is to understand the local or global dynamics that affect the practice and musical life surrounding classical music.
